Why study Black history?
History allows you to understand the world around you. It tells you how and why the world came to be as it is. It allows you to understand your cultural roots, and teaches you to take pride in the achievements of your ancestors. It shows you exactly where you have come from and points you in the direction of greatness.
Black history has been deliberately twisted and erased. This erasure has contributed to the maintenance of racism. It has allowed Black people to think that their ancestors were unintelligent and unsuccessful.
